Bringing Japan to the world

A Web site sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and operated by a Japanese nongovernmental organization is helping people around the world get to know more about Japan and its culture. Web Japan covers topics including Japanese nature and geography, politics and administration, economy and industry, society, culture, travel, sports and leisure, and science and technology. It also includes access to more detailed subsites, such as a virtual museum of Japanese art and a kids’ site. Kids Web Japan includes information for children around the world about Japanese children’s daily lives, basic recipes that walk children through how to make popular Japanese dishes and quick lessons in Japanese. Web Japan content is provided primarily in English, but a portion of the site, including the kids’ site, is multilingual. The site receives more than 200 million hits per year from users around the world.
